Kiddie Videos

Posted October 11, 2018 2:00 PM by Reese

My family’s devices get put away at mealtime, especially when we’re out at a restaurant. I want my kiddo to enjoy the experience of dining out, learn appropriate social behavior, and appreciate the service.

However, as we all know, kids tend to finish up their meals way before adults are done. After some coloring and playing with the small toys we’ve brought along, that’s when we’ll pass over one of our phones for a few kid-appropriate videos. One of our favorites?

“Baby shark, a-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo! Baby shark, a-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo! Baby shark, a-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo! Baby shark!”

Sound familiar? Any other favorites?

Since we're now into bragging....

My father thought I was extremely bright, he always called me Sun (son? )

Off-topic, but my kids' preschool changed the "baby shark" song to "baby fish" to be less violent.

For a year or so my kids regularly tried to get on YouTube to watch "toy videos" -- adults compensated by toy manufacturers to essentially unbox and use their products in a video. Apparently this has spawned a kind of cottage industry for online entrepreneurs. Thankfully the kids have outgrown it -- the videos are useless at best and sort of creepy at worst.

This woman somehow has billions of views -- can't imagine how much she's earned at this point.
