Use a washer to fasten boards together.

Don't use a board to hold a washer together.

You know you're a redneck if you "fix" one broken door with leftover parts from another door you broke kicking it in.

Actually this really isn't that funny. I used to have a Bosch tumble dryer that the door latch kept breaking on.

They want about $10 for this little piece of plastic every time it breaks. For a company with a reasonable reputation like Bosch you'd have thought it would be in their interests to give away the replacements when they've designed something so unreliable.

I just can't understand why white goods spares are such a rip off.

Sorry rant over.

$10 for an appliance part - I'll take it! Our junky Whirlpool (or other junky brand) had a handle on the dryer that would break whenever you breathed too hard on it. I replaced it once ($40-50 for the part including shipping). The next time it broke, I left it. Poorly engineered and eventually, the bearing went out and it made so much noise, but kept working - then the heat went out and it was time to throw the unit out.

It was suppose to be a higher end unit. Front load with large smoked plastic door, gas heating and stainless steel drum with lots of drying options. It matched our washing machine - which never broke a handle and is still working fine. Go figure!

I can't see what the problem is, It works doesn't it? We had a pair of vice grips for a kitchen door handle for fifteen years it was meant to be temporary but it worked & we had many conversations at party's about it.

And of course there was the huge bonus that you always knew where to find the vice grips when you needed them.
