ASME Multi-level Career Development Webinar Series – Created by Engineers for Engineers

ASME has partnered with the Engineering Management Institute (EMI) to bring you a Multi-level Career Development Webinar Series custom-made for Mechanical Engineers. The EMI serves to help engineers become more effective managers and leaders through content, coaching, and training.

This Webinar Series consists of 4 different Experience Levels with 4 mini-courses per level, delivered to you live.

  • Level 100 is aimed at Mechanical Engineering Students
  • Level 200 is created for Recent Graduates
  • Level 300 is geared towards Early Career Engineers
  • Level 400 is made for Experienced Professionals

1) Level 100 (2) - How to Ace Every Job Interview

Creating a winning resume is only half the battle, as you also must be able to ace the job interviews that your resume helps you secure. In this webinar, you will learn strategies that will help you prepare for, ace, and follow up effectively on all interviews.

2) Level 300 (3): How to Network & Build Relationships

Date: Wednesday, October 16th, 2019, 1:00 PM EDT

It’s doubtful that you’ll ever see a class in an engineering school related to building strong relationships. However, one could make a case that your network along with your communication skills together drive how successful you’ll be as an engineering leader. This session walks you through easy to implement actions to improve your networking skills and start to build relationships.

3) Level 400 (3): Maximizing Productivity

Date: Thursday, October 17th, 2019, 1:00 PM EDT

It is becoming nearly impossible in today’s world to focus intently on any one thing, and therefore, the professionals that can do that will be at the top of their industry. As an engineering manager, you will be pulled in many different directions, and therefore you will need to learn how to handle all of the distractions. In this session, you will be given a blueprint for increasing your productivity on a day to day basis by doing things like task batching, developing MITs (most important tasks), and learning how to recognize high leverage tasks.

4) Level 200 (3): How to Build Expertise and Master Public Speaking

One tool that can facilitate the landing of your first job but also help you build your professional network is LinkedIn. Unfortunately, most engineering professionals don’t use it effectively. here is how to Ace EVERY job interview.

Know more than the interviewer about the job you are interviewing for.

you will ace it every time. If you have problems at an interview than you are interviewing for a position that is requires more than your skillset has to offer.

With that said, its been a while as I have been working at my present workplace going on 33yrs.

Although I did interview for the position, the company had called me asking if I would be interested in working here. So I have been fortunate but I also attribute it to hard work and attention to detail.
