Picture it: Thousands of humanoid robots with your face could soon be appearing all over the world, potentially carrying out your bidding in an army of you.
Well, sort of.
According to recent reports, U.K. startup Geomiq, the maker of design and manufacturing workflow tools, is in search of a “kind and friendly” face for a line of humanoid robots that an unnamed robotics company intends to develop. The candidate with the most appropriate face could be paid as much as $111,420 for his or her likeness.
Although the details are limited due to a non-disclosure agreement that Geomiq has signed with the unnamed robotics company, reports suggest that the line of robots, which could be mass produced by the thousands, will play the role of friend and companion to the elderly.
Once selected, production of the robots is slated to begin in 2020.
Geomiq is calling on all of those with kind and friendly faces to submit their pictures to faces@geomiq.com.
Meanwhile, the rest of us should probably hold off until another robotics company expresses interest in developing humanoid robots with “tired and surly” faces.
