Hemmings Motor News Blog

Hemmings Motor News has been around since 1954. We're proud of our heritage, but we're also more than the Hemmings full of classifieds that your father subscribed to. Aside from new editorial content every month in Hemmings, we have three monthly magazines: Hemmings Muscle Machines, Hemmings Classic Car and Hemmings Sports and Exotic Car.

While our editors traverse the country to find the best content for those magazines, we find other oddities related to the old-car hobby that we really had no place for - until now. With this blog, we're giving you a behind-the-scenes look at what we see and what we do during the course of putting out some of the finest automotive magazines you'll ever read.

Watch This: A Fish of a Slightly Different Color

This week, the Hemmings Muscle Machines Weekly is thinking about Barracudas. Ah, yes: that wee fish with teeth that always seems to be present at the car show, but usually gets little more than the "Oh, yeah... there's a Barracuda..." from the passers-by. Let's face it; not until the the car got bigger and the name got shorter, did the Barracuda really start to get noticed by the go-fast crowd. Sure, you could argue that the nameplate started out with an in-liner and 14-inch wheels, but you could say that about more than a few of the great muscle cars of yore. Maybe these seahorses of the Pony Car era just weren't marketed that well when they were new? Is it possible that the Barracuda was being snapped-up by sensible new car buyers who wanted practicality over fire-breathing cubes?

While we could probably dig through the last 40 years of assorted Hemmings publications to find all the answers to these burning questions, we'll go down that rabbit hole later: We've got a tasty video from our friends at Petrolicious to sink our rows of killer fish teeth into right now! What we love so much about this particular Barracuda and its owner is the way they came together: A Euro sportscar nut-meets-slightly-obscure-muscle car. It's a love story we just can't get enough of. And hats-off to a set of custom 15-inch steelies and plans for a bigger motor and fuel injection. We get the feeling this story is only gonna get better....
