Today I finally got around to adding my first bits of personalization to my Corvair: A U.S. 31 decal in the driver's side rear window. I also just joined the Corvair Society of America (CORSA) and they sent me a decal, which I added alongside the U.S. 31 sticker. That's it for now. Although I've got a whole binder full of interesting, adhesive-backed advertisements I could add, I'm always reluctant to go too far.
My wife is entirely anti-bumper sticker, as she puts it, and you could argue that driving a Corvair is self-expression enough, but I'm okay with a smattering of decals provided they meet certain personal rules of mine. Those rules are a) the decal has to look period-correct (for the Corvair, call it 1962-'72; and my feelings on modern decal designs will wait for another day), and b) either the car or I must have earned them in some way. That's why I didn't add some cool vintage racing decals I've had in my files for a few years now. The car doesn't have S.E.V. Marchal lamps and neither it nor I were in the 1972 running of the Press On Regardless rally.
What stickers or decals are you running on your car? How did you select them?
