Toying with Electronics and Intelligence

Posted September 19, 2007 8:31 AM

Even though 'Zeno' is about two years from being available, its use of artificial intelligence to walk, talk, make eye contact, and express emotions has engineers talking. The 17 in., 4.5 lb robot uses the 'Massive' artificial intelligence (AI) driven animation system; with most of its intelligence maintained out side the body. The prototype links to a Linux and a Windows XP box (one for the animation software and the other for Zeno's character engine). The final version will use one network-attached Windows PC, connected via 802.11g Wi-Fi.

What a great toy! I want one. Now if it only looked like me and could set at my desk and answer the phone while I am out at the golf course.

Look like I might have a new profession... Robot hit man. While I don't have the psyopathic personality to terminate people, I could see firing long-distance .50 caliber rounds at a robot for some labor union!
