UN Chief Calls for 'Breakthrough' at Climate-change Summit

Posted September 24, 2007 12:20 PM

From CBC | Technology & Science News:

he largest-ever political summit on climate change got under way in New York City on Monday, with the head of the United Nations thanking the dozens of world leaders in attendance for sharing his concern about the environment. Nearly 80 heads of countries gathered at the UN headquarters for the one-day summit to discuss ways to curb climate change. The talks are in advance of the UN Climate Change Conference in Bali in December, where leaders are to forge a new deal to replace the Kyoto Protocol when it expires in 2012.

I think it is laughable that these "world leaders" know nothing about the science behind climate change and what is causing it. Instead of investigating whether we are even causing it, they are calling for all these measures to reverse it. This is so rediculous! No one cares about the science, they simply want another way to control the "peasants". It has become fact already that we are changing the climate even in light of recent evedence that temp measurements taken by NASA have been flawed and placed right above A/C exhausts and so on. No one cares about what is really happening and it really is frustrating that we are all treated like morons who don't know any better.

I think most scientists and engineers agree that global warming is a fact, but relatively few believe it is controllable by adjusting human actvities.

Once made rough calculations of the amount of additional CO2 released into the atmosphere by the increasing populations.. The number is huge. Even if we did nothing but breathe, the additional CO2 would impact global CO2 levels significantly. But then, maybe what we need is a tax on breathing.
