Kinoforms Break X-ray Optics Barrier

Posted October 14, 2007 8:17 AM by Sharkles

Using a compound kinoform lens, a group at Brookhaven National Laboratory have exceeded the critical angle for hard x-ray (11.3 keV) optics, opening the way for eventual nanoscale resolution imaging. The design consists of a series of four kinoform lenses; the group tested it on beamline X13B of the National Synchrotron Light Source.
