Sigh. And the English language slides a bit farther into the abyss. Has the word "Protege" (it would be Protegee for the feminine) fallen out of use to the point where even universities abandon it?

Sounds all so cute and innocent, doesn't it. Too often the "Mentoring" process degenerates into nasty cliques to protect incompetence.
