Both developing and industrial nations have roles to play in
following a sustainable energy path. In its recent report, "Lighting
the Way: Toward a Sustainable Energy Future," the Amsterdam-based
InterAcademy Council urges developing countries to leapfrog past the energy supply mistakes made
in the west and to exploit mature technologies. Developed states should
continue emphasis on efficiency, conservation, and renewables. The
global game plan calls for doubling energy R&D investments,
increasing the scale of carbon capture and storage, and expanded
deployment of renewable energy in distributed generation schemes. Can
you include these strategies in your energy planning playlist?
