Do Borders Matter?

Posted December 15, 2007 7:55 AM

In his book "Redefining Global Strategy," author Pankaj Ghemawat poses the question: Do borders and cultures still matter? While globalization looks here to stay, what does it mean in terms of a business model? Does one-size-fit-all, or should country-by-country customization prevail?

The preceding article is a "sneak peek" from Glass & Ceramics, a newsletter from GlobalSpec. To stay up-to-date and informed on industry trends, products, and technologies, subscribe to Glass, Ceramics, Fibers & Fabrics today.

They sure do if you're taking food and opportunities away from my children.

There was a time when capitalists had a vested interest in the economic health of their own countries. That is far less true today. Instead of a national class war it has gone global. No, no one is plotting to hurt anybody. They are simply trying to accumulate all the wealth they can. If your kids starve so be it. They will simply say that there are winners and losers.

Productivity in Mexico and India have soared. The incomes of workers has gone down. Ask yourself where the money went.

And another frame of capitalistic mind is "So what if global warming is a reality. I can always afford to move me and mine to higher or cooler ground." And so what if cities become swears, "I can afford to move me and mine to a nicer place." If you want to see this today, take a look at Haiti, and it's rich upper-class, compared to the average citizen. It's bloody post-apocalyptic!!!

Our only hope is that things change drastically in 2008, but then again we're so concerned as a nation about who puts their penis where! "I'd rather my family die, than have to think about that stuff!!!"

Another fool convinced global warming is something mankind has done ! Wrong I tell you it has more to do with the wobble in the solar system with regards the our position with in the milky way. This results in higher doses of cosmic radiation hence more weather changes this model follows the ice sample on record. As for CO2 it generally is inverted curve that lags warming of the planet ie it is a result of heating not the root cause. But if you want to believe hippocrites like Al Gore that fly around with his cornies consuming more fuel for one flight then all of the onlookers of this story then listen to your hippocrite. Sorry but I cant believe in a person that uses more fuel and more electrical power then ask the general population stop living because you are bad you using your car ..

My post really had nothing to do with who or what is causing global warming or whether global warming is even occurring! It was merely meant as an example.

Perhaps I should have just stuck with the Haitian example. Then, you would not have been distracted from my major point by your own intellectual powder keg exploding.
