Jacobs Engineering reports that they have been selected to perform civil, structural, and general plant design work from their UK offices for a project that will generate electricity via fusion from a site in France. Work on the euro 4.26 billion project will start in the first half of 2007 and finish in 2015.

I had one of those sun visor PV cells that plugs into a car cigarette lighter. I modified a small personal fan that ran on two AA batteries and the solar cell so I could plug the two together with the LED flasher circuit from the lighter plug mounted in the fan. When I put the solar cell in bright sunlight, the fan runs and the LED flashes (although it's hard to see). Electricity from Fusion. Maybe I should tell the French about this.

Sounds like Jacobs is building a plant -- not a fusion reactor. Wonder who's (what's) doing that?

Might look into AREVA, France's largest and the world's largest commercial nuclear power plant producer. They have teamed up with the company I work for (BWX Technologies) to manufacture commercial Nuclear plants for united states contracts. When they get a contract for a plant in the U.S. we will manufacture the components, I don't know who will build the structure around the power plant. also try constellation energy. I would like to see more information on this fusion reactor though!

It reminds me of the ITER fusion reactor. I have read some promising descriptions of it.
