What's the Best Solution?

Selecting the right shock or vibration isolator from those available can make one's head spin. As step one, narrow your choices to the required characteristics. Then start selecting the appropriate product for your specific task. This chart can serve as a starting point. How do you isolate the best vibration solution?

"How do you isolate the best vibration solution ?" Well the first step is to attack the source directly and that chart is useful, but I find that it is usually a multi faceted approach that usually works.

Sound waves resonating from the source travel through vibration and contact, but also resonating through the air etc. and isolation is the first step. I have found that especially in commercial or industrial applications, acoustic treatment may be needed as well.

Recently i had to isolate industrial vacuums in NYC that were heard from three floors above. I had to isolate them as well as the piping throughout the shop, and provide acoustical treatment in the room itself. http://www.csoulpro.com/Industrial_Noise_Reduction.html
