OLED Display Lifespan Doubles

Engineers improved the efficacy of organic light emitting diode (OLED) screens by using a new metal membrane that more efficiently delivered light from polymers in the substrate out through the glass surface. This new development led to a doubling of the lifespan of OLED televisions, bringing OLED displays one step closer to production and introduction to the consumer market. How will these developments complicate the already competitive television market?

From what to what, I wonder? Anyone up to speed on this? If it's from 6 days up to 12, I'm not impressed...
