A Push from Bush?

Posted March 29, 2008 8:26 AM

So what do you think of the AMTDA's enthusiastic reception for the tax-breaks on the purchase of new equipment in the recent U.S. economic stimulus package signed by President Bush? Will the package allow U.S. manufacturers to rekit themselves in preparation for the second decade of the 21st Century, or is the AMTDA getting excited over not very much at all?

It will be a great stimulant. One business man said:

"Many many proprietors, myself included, need more than a year to plan a large capital investment. Still, if I'm offered the ability to completely write off the first $100,000.00 of any capital expenditure, plus depreciate anything over that $100,000 by 50% plus the normal first year's depreciation; well I'm gonna take a long hard look at spending some money this year."

Tax cuts boost the economy . . . Proven fact.

After seeing the investments made in overseas equipment, and seeing the impressive machines companies have put in place in China, it has been sad and discouraging to see many small to mid-size homegrown companies fall by the wayside. We are obliigated to invest in foreign lands in order to survive. Any help in purchasing new machines and equipment to be placed in American based companies that will help us compete to keep American workers on the job while allowing us to increase export goods will obviously boost the American economy.

Goal: to maintain competitiveness and sustainability of north AMerican Manufacturing.

Means: Improvement of deployed Technology.

Catalyst, Financial incentives to upgrade technology.

Bonus: The sales also spur the economy, as each manufacturing job supports several other non manufacturing jobs...

its the one time you can get a true victory courtesy of an accounting dodge.

Isn't this a clear warning sign of how closely the American people are watched if they can pin point when a spefic amount of cash at a spefic time will turn the U.S. Economy. scarey to me being watched so close.

Hi Dadw5boys.

Its a macrolevel aggregate view.

Thats not so scary. Thats how the insurance companies assess risk.

The point that they can figure out that $600 is the tipping point gives me pause.

Now if those folks who always run to the paycheck advance store could just put thiss in their checking account (Chequeing acct for our friends in the time zone across the atlantic) for a rainy DAY, THAT WOULD BE THE HIGHEST AND BEST USE!

enjoy your evening.
