Should Sun Shine for Silicon Photonics?

Posted April 14, 2008 8:23 AM

The U.S. Department of Defense has awarded a $44 million contract for the development of silicon photonics to a consortium headed by Sun Microsystems. It is to be devoutly hoped that whatever factor(s) 'swung' the vote was centered on technical excellence, and not the sort of shennanigans surrounding recent transactions involving Boeing and the Halliburton subsidiary Kellogg, Brown, and Root.

Big money politics have helped destroy the United States ability to compete. Big Money means special interest prevails over competition. Big money corrupts absolutely.
