Should Bugs Serve Humans?

Posted May 06, 2008 8:00 AM

Scientists and engineers are using nanotech and MEMS to remotely control insects now and will probably extend these technologies to other life forms in the near future. These creatures will be sacrificed to wage war in the worst case, and to improve and save human lives in the best case. Is there something unethical about using animals in this manner, or is it just a logical and welcome progression of technology?

The preceding article is a "sneak peek" from Electrical Components, a newsletter from GlobalSpec. To stay up-to-date and informed on industry trends, products, and technologies, subscribe to Electrical Components today.

I think it is foolish and short sighted. Imagine a bunch of guys in a thin walled balloon floating in the air and one of them tinkering with its walls to have some fun or to get out or any other reason.. The chances are greater that post tinkering, the suffering of the group as a whole would be higher.

Why not let them serve us. We serve them food, heat, nesting places, and pets to infest.

Get even! lol
