Personal Manufacturing

Looking to outsource the manufacture of your design? Why not fabricate it yourself? An item in Machine Design, entitled "Fab it Now," describes a personal fabricating system that "would make objects on-demand from computer-generated design specifications." All the ingredients are at hand, including open-source firmware and application source code. Can this be the future of manufacturing?

I never have one shop do all my work. I spread it outr even to towns over 100 miles away to keep control who sees the whole design.
