...unfortunately, the wavelengths used are MUCH longer and guided/controlled than what you could do with a microwave (hence the extra few million to model and extensively test the entire assembly). Gotta make sure you don't accidently 'leak' to the sides and cook your driver while you're firing this thing from the sunroof of your Hummer.

Also, I would assume that to put out the power needed at a distance, this thing must be either pulsed or have a LARGE capacitor bank close by; so as a personal weapon you would need something similar to the Ghost-Buster's backpack with a high-flow fuel cell to keep it charged up and ready to make popcorn out of any insurgents. Guess it'll be a vehicle or mounted weapon only, though...GI Joe busting down the door with a microwave to yell "down or I'll give you a sunburn!" just doesn't have quite the impact of a stun grenade.

This thing'll probably start popping up all over the world as dictators find a chinese knock-off to buy so they can keep the restless natives from gathering to vote - or worship - or protest - or whatever non-politically-correct activity 'freedom seeking' citizens would prefer.

Either way, I guess it's gotta be more humane than wiping them out, like they do in NKorea, Sudan, or beating and raping them into submission as any number of other Muslim nations do.

Hi Guest(What a strange name you have???) Heaven forbid that any money should be used for the betterment of mankind. How could anyone even sujest such obsurdity. This new "crowd pacifier" is only the first step, next will be the ULTIMATE death ray, designed to fry country's or even continents..........sorry getting a bit carried away.

Carried away or not..I wouldn't be too sure. I believe that the military now has a tank-mounted laser that can destroy a large missile in-flight. (Ultimate death ray so far)

I am both a veteren of the Angolan bush war and the townshop riots that nearly ripped my beautiful country apart. I do not at this time wish to debate the rights and wrongs of the apartheid era but suffice to say that many people died in violence that could have been prevented by more passive means! My comment is only in reference to the belief that there must be a better way of solving issues than resorting common barbaric violence. Root cause analysis would be a start for example. Anyway this could go on forever, suffice to say that if I have offended your sensabilities then I sincerely apologise, have a great day further Cheers!

This surely is a commendable effort to win the hearts and minds of iraqi people....only this time fried. All of us are victims of the well known war and oil mafia....this is so depressing !

The whole trick throughout all of human history is how to govern government...how to keep a leash on your political junkyard dog.

It should be our job, as concerned citizens and able engineers, to build fashionable, comfortable and effectively reflective suits to protect citizens from politicians gone mad with power.

Remember, the "terrorists" dropped us to our knees armed with only box-cutters. Our response has been waaay out of control, and that should worry us.
