Did IMTS Deliver?

Posted September 10, 2008 8:00 AM

It was expected that sales during this year's IMTS Show will help maintain momentum of current U.S. investment in manufacturing technology. Did you attend the event and did your company splash some cash on a new machine tool or other equipment? If so, what and why? Even if you didn't shell out, did anything catch your eye? Let us know what you thought of the event and the products on display.

The preceding article is a "sneak peek" from Machine Tools & Metal Working, a newsletter from GlobalSpec. To stay up-to-date and informed on industry trends, products, and technologies, subscribe to Machine Tools & Metal Working today.

i'm still here and so the story isn't finished...

The main driver of sales is current batch of tax credits and accelerate ddepreciation credits.

In my humble opinion, where before the emphasis has been on speed (sfm) in this IMTS, Im seeing a heck of a lot more FLEXIBILITY.

I also have to say that its too bloody big and spread out to be effective, and there are cognitive issues with "hyper choice." If you dont have a specific plan for visits, everything just starts to blur. They did a good job on registration logistics. Lousy food (mickey d's is head and shoulder s best available on site...)

There is no doubt that all of the exhibitors are working hard to keep us in the game.
