Can a Diverse Workforce Boost Creativity?

Posted September 26, 2008 8:00 AM

A diverse workforce can be a competitive advantage according to a recent article. The article describes how one multi-national company finds that diversification leads to the creation of more innovative products and makes the company more competitive. To help achieve diversity effectively, the company uses employee network groups. Is diversity an issue at your company? Do you work in an inclusive environment that encourages diversity?

I work in a very diverse environment, and I actively encourage it. I don't need anyone else in the room that looks/talks/acts/thinks like I do. I have me for that.

What a divergent bunch of double talk. What exactly is it that's supposed to be diverse? How do "network groups" (as opposed to individual groups) achieve (whatever diversity is) just by being used by the company? This all just sounds like an "outplaced" consultant wannabe, looking for a new gig.

this is a big bunch of social bull. diversity is the most trite expression in the US. Why if it is so great are the less diverse countries beating us? China, Japan, Korea all are ahead of us. As always a study proves what it set out to prove.

Same old bull from someone outside the company telling the real work force how to lower their standards to meet the "lowest skill workers" in the work place. Enough of this "dumb down" of America's workers to allow any and all into the worlds highest quality, best and most productive employees. We should promote more "like/like" and build on our sucess . The so called "diverse" is a code word for unskilled " I want a pay check not a "JOB" socialized ,entitlement culture. Keep America strong with Americans in the work place.
