Autobiography of an Automotive Designer (Part 2)

Perhaps some of the most interesting comments from Holden Koto in this second part of a two-part story on his design career, come at the end, when he reflects on more than a half-century in the automotive design business and compares how it changed from 1933, when he started, to 1968, when he retired. Perhaps his answer is a bit predictable, but his choice of his favorite design from those years is less so.

The cars have gotten lower and lower over the years, and have been evidently designed for the vertically challenged or small children.

I like a car I can wear my hat inside, and also one which I don't have to crouch down to get into the car.

I understand completely Sparkstation,

in full size pickups I'm to long in the body to need the sun visors. Any hat other than like a baseball cap is against the roof. In sports cars the seat has to be tilted back and tipped down. Even then one Dodge, I had to keep my head in the sun roof.
