Where's the Aerogel?

Aerogels, the lightest solid known to man, have been around for decades. They exhibit properties bordering on the fantastic, yet — in the case of silica aerogels — are made from the same common ingredients as glass. Why don't we see or hear of them more often?

why don't we see it in use anywhere?

made from common materials, so what is holding it back?

must be cost i guess.

anyone know how to make it? or where to buy it?

United Nuclear has it. You're right, its too expensive except for exotic applications like space probes.
