Wiretapping Program Ruled Legal

Posted January 16, 2009 8:41 AM

From Slashdot:

The New York Times is carrying a story concerning that well known bastion of legal authority, the 'Foreign Intelligence Surveillance' court, which has ruled that the National Security Agency's warrantless eavesdropping program was perfectly legal. It says, 'A federal intelligence court, in a rare public opinion, is expected to issue a major ruling validating the power of the president and Congress to wiretap international phone calls and intercept e-mail messages without a court order, even when Americans' private communications may be involved, according to a person with knowledge of the opinion.'

if enough people would use ''key words'' in their everyday communications, like that project bombed out, the system would become so overloaded with useless flags that it would probably be phased out. see, i just slowed the process a little, lol. wonder when i will get a knock on the door for this reply?

Odd, I don't find any provision in the Constitution of the United States for a Foreign Surveillance Court or a federal intelligence court.

What is the basis of their personam jurisdiction? If they have none then they only have colorable powers.

Congress is now giving itself the power to create Judicial courts. The Judicial system just gives more power away. What is in it for the Judicial branch? Subjects instead of citizens?

And the couch potatoes play on.

And once again, we the sheeple will rise up with a deafening silence and bow our heads in submission.

The fact that it runs from keywords and simple encryption is a weakness. So much money is spent on this and anybody who should be doing the really bad stuff knows this and acts accordingly to sneak through. This leaves only normal schmos with minor offenses to be picked up. Thats what'll happen if it hasn't already.
