Major Leap for Faster Computers

Posted March 20, 2009 9:26 AM

From BBC News | Science & Environment | UK Edition:

Super-fast quantum computers are now a step closer to becoming a reality, thanks to a breakthrough by scientists. Edinburgh and Manchester University researchers have created a molecular device which could act as a building block for super-fast computers. They have created components that could be used to develop quantum computers, which can make intricate calculations faster than conventional machines.

What you have clearly failed to realize is the tremendous increase in computational speed and user efficiency that these quantum computers represent.

Why, I wouldn't be at all surprised if such machines will be able to generate multiple crashed applications, BSODs and reboots all before the operator's finger even leaves the power button!

Ah...such undremt wonders!

Well, once Microsloth unveils its latest abortion, anyway. Now if it was Linux, or Unix based, and Apple didn't diddle the core too much, it would probably be able to do all our work at once, on ONE machine, and we could all go be whatever else appealed to us. Certainly NOT office-bots anymore, anyway.

Kill Microsloth. Linux programmers, let's take over the world! Enthrone Linux Torvalds TODAY! (Or, if I got it wrong, learn to spell his name right, and enthrone him tomorrow, instead.)

Del, you KNOW wishful thinking doesn't do anything but disappoint. Nonetheless, I say to you, YOU, and I, JUST WISH it had!

Rats!!!!

Don't worry, Microshaft will be able to slow it down!

If this is the case then we shortly may be as obsolete as mechanical typewriters. Is it a far step to factories that are computer controlled and run that will make "improvements" to the design thereby making the Human element unnecessary?

I am thinking that computers with the capability of holding multiple values (like a human brain) is the step to AI. What if they don't think we are necessary anymore?

Perhaps we are creating our evolutionary successors, like we succeeded the Cro-Magnon.

A bit paranoid? Perhaps, but there was a grain of truth to the "Terminator" series.

Just my opinion Dragon

If they load microslop in the terminator robots they wouldn't stand a chance. They'd be slow and constantly rebooting. Thats when we pull their CPU's.
