36kva Genset Failure

04/07/2015 10:11 AM

I have 36kva FGWILSON GENSET, the generator is not able to take any load, as it shut down immediately once loaded.

My condolences. Try using a telephone on the manufacturer's number.

Dear Mr.Sinan,

Your posting should express/spell out the events observed, but not so.

The reasons for stoppage/shut down of generator are plenty both in terms of Mechanical Aspect and in terms of Electrical Aspect.

A.On Mechanical Aspect

1. Diesel Filter Choked. preventing diesel flow to the pump.

2. Air Lock in the Diesel Injection, hence fuel supply to engine cylinders is not sufficient.

3. Inadequate Air supply for engine.

4. Incomplete combustion of fuel, high CO content in the exhaust gas.

5. Less compression of air inside the cylinder due to leakage past the piston rings.

6. Adulteration/water mixing in the diesel.

7. Poor Automisation of Diesel from the Diesel Injector/Automiser

8. Improper suction and exhaust valve opening/closing timings.

9. High volumetric clearance of the cylinder Head.

10. Leaky gasket.

11. Starting Torque demand is higher than what the generator can sustain.

B. On Electrical Aspect.

1. High starting current than what the Generator can handle.

2. The equipment to be started is on load i.e., the motor is started against the load and hence draws more current.

3. Partial Short Circuit is occuring.

By "any load" you mean one that is less than the genset's rating? Overloading a genset will shut one down too.

You are either out of fuel or your filter/pump/governor/controller is wallaby-ted.
