I Live to Work

05/02/2015 3:46 PM

Hello all, This is my first time posting here, I am a 56 years old married man, working in a busy company from 9 till 9. I leave my place at 8 so I wake up at 7. I therefore sleep at 12 to get 7 hours of rest, waking up the next day tired. Finishing work at 9, I am home at 10, I eat and shower and barely have an hour to maybe watch some Tv because I am usually too tired for anything else. I am sick and tired of this life and need major help. Thank you. PS: I have applied for many other jobs. Unfortunately, my age is an handicap and nobody is taking my ajob application in consideration.

You need some kind of help this forum can't provide. This sure as heck isn't your first post, you aren't anywhere near 56 years old (I hope), and you wouldn't know 12 hours of work if you saw it. This is all based on your previous posts.

Editing my post for the benefit of others: the OP was originally energypassion97. He has previously posted anonymously and denied it and apparently changed this post to anonymous.

In this post from last year, you stated that you were 17 years old. Either you live in some weird time warp or you are a habitual liar - either way we can't help you.

Ok, so your 56 year old father works 12 hours a day to support his 1718 year old son who is too lazy to get a job. But you are willing to help him keep supporting you by finding new (hopefully higher paying) employment. Is that about it?

Not exactly. I am going to enter university for a decent degree to later get employed and self sustain myself. I posted for my father to see if there was any sort of solution to his problem. Thanks for helping

I suggest dueling pistols. To mix metaphors, it's a two birdbrains with one stone thing.

The best advice anyone can give you is to learn from the twists and turns in your father's life, then make sure that you don't take the same path so that your 17 year old son/daughter doesn't have to post on your behalf...

Dear,

Your age is not the handicap. It's your lack of maturity, and your self pity that don't win you any jobs.

Just be glad that you already have a job, any job.

There is no help here for you.

In the other post, you sign as Victor Moussalli. That same question was posed in multiple other forums related to science or engineering. You state that you live in Lebanon.

If that is indeed true, and if your father works in Lebanon, there is good news! Lebanese labor laws limit the number of weekly hours an employer may demand to 48. Working days are limited to 8 hours with some exceptions allowed to 12. Sundays are not working days.

Maybe your father has some other engagement that keeps him from coming home immediately after work. Perhaps, there is something other than work in his life for which he lives. Perhaps it is something he doesn't wish to share with you. People are entitled to some degree of personal space and privacy. It might be best if you allowed him his.

He does not work in Lebanon,+ the CEO of the company is his friend. I suppose he doesn't want to disappoint him.I was just asking because my father wants to leave the job, which will then affect me (university etc..) and others in the family as well as the way we live. Thanks

Your father wants to leave his job...and you are worried about how it will affect you?

I would suggest to your father that he might want to reconsider his options...like what he was doing about 18 years ago...

...you probably don't want to hear what I would suggest that you do.
