China Motor Schematic

06/07/2015 11:53 PM

China made electric motor with no schematic. The name cast in the terminal cover is WAN PENG. With a marker this is marked 750W. It has a 5 wires and the start and run capacitor are located in the control box. The colors are White, Red, Blue, Yellow and Brown. It has a centrifugal switch which has the yellow wire.

The only name on the unit is Tumbler 180

I need the schematic.

Best to go to a dealer or distributor that has contact with the company that manufactures the motor or tumbler, and ask them for assistance...

Your motor might have:

2 wires for the field coil (always on when running)

2 wires for the starting coil that must be interrupted by your centrifugal switch

2 wires for the switch

2 wires for the capacitor.

Some of these need are to be connected together on one side of the phase, leaving already 2 0r 3 less.

The starting field coil should be parallel to the main coil and interrupted by the switch.

(check if the brown wire is the ground and if yes, only use it for that purpose)

leaves 4 active wires (in pairs- of which one will see a capacitor in series - you can shorten the capacitor out to find that pair), considered that.

You will see that the motor can spin both ways, depending on how you connect the pair(s) to your power supply.

A start would be to get a vom and measure ohms between every pair. (4x5=20 measurements)

You can do it in 10 measurements. And another 10 when you have lost your notes by accident.

I guess you are hoping someone will come back and say they know the motor and tell you they have a circuit diagram and what the colour connections are.

If not, then ignoring earthing/grounding wires, unless there are hidden wires in side the housing, I would expect to find 8 wires.

2 for Start winding. 2 for Run. 2 for Centrifugal switch. 2 for Capacitor.

By inspection of the terminal block/box. 2 of the terminals will be for the incoming Live and Neutral mains.

The Capacitor, Start winding and Centrifugal switch are connected in series, which enables you to work out which is which by tracing the other wires and terminals connected to the capacitor and yellow wire.

I cant help with colour coding, but if Brown and blue are conventional mains then these will go to the Run winding.

Or using a meter, by isolating all wires from their terminals (make a careful note of the connections because you will need to put them back).

2 wires to the Centrifugal switch will show zero resistance, a dead short (ie, normally closed when stationary).

2 wires to the capacitor will show high resistance, open circuit.

2 wires to the start winding will show low resistance, as will the 2 wires to the run winding.

Line and neutral will connect to the same terminals as the run winding..

Shaoxing City Wan Peng Electrical Co. Ltd. Many of these companies are state co'op's. They don't provide schematic. Broken ? Buy new one. Why write on motor case with marker (?) Either they done know motors capacity until after its built, or mom & pop workshop supplier at end of alleyway ran out of nameplates. I'm not kidding. Sounds like a 3 speed motor.

Based on that advice, I'd suggest using that Chinese motor as a paperweight or doorstop, and contacting a German company to get you a proper motor for your needs.

Trust me, those Germans will get you the right motor, even if you don't know which one you need, they'll ask the right questions to get the information you didn't even know you had about the motor and its requirements. Or to put it another way, (and with apologies to my fellow Germans) "Zhey haf vays ov makink you talk." (It has literally been YEARS since I could find someplace to use that old Vaudeville line.)
