    Go to the section:
Send them your COMPLETE machine requirements and let them make proposals regarding the best machine to use.
Maybe ask a local machinist for their recommendations.
The information you provide is not adequate for any good analysis or recommendations.

khannaji,

  • How many parts are you going to mill, 1? 100? 1000000?
  • How much money do you have?
  • How much money do you want to spend?
  • CNC machine?
  • Manual machine?

Not sure about any of this but make sure you use cutters suitable for Aluminium.

I'm still trying to figure out what a "thru pocket" looks like, but just about any mill capable of ~2000 RPM with coolant will suffice.

What is this mysterious Alumium you refer to? Is it solid at room temperature? We already know it is bigger than a breadbox. We know what size the desired holes in it are to be also from your post (40 mm) Are these to be round holes? Square holes, hexagonal holes, triangular? I assume you meant round, since you mentioned diameter. If this is for engine blocks you need a large, industrial robotic mill.

There is noone here by that name.

If those are 40 mm round holes, I have two Glock drills in that diameter.

....burred holes mate. Effective but rough.

That's a big Glock drill.

This one is nice but 40mm might be a big ask...

What is your geographic location?

New or second hand?

Any mill that has a vice big enough for the work to be securely held will be fine really.

Others have mentioned different considerations.

When shopping, don't do this 100% by phone or email, take a test piece of material with you, the cutting tool you intend to use and ask to see the mill in action.

Listen, look, measure and feel.....

.....and haggle. It's a buyer's market at present. Look for bankrupt businesses liquidating their assets.

You initial post is somwhat confusing. Please explain yourself, and your machining needs more thoroughly, if you want a really good answer from one of the crew here.

For all I know you are attempting to bore a 40 mm hole in 40mm commercial aluminum block, why not just grind it all up, and give up?

Ajay: Not that any of here are nefarious bastages that will steal your private information, but you should reply privately to the OP, rather than in the open forum.
