US Government offers $1,000,000 for Power Supply

07/18/2007 7:29 AM

This may be old news by now. Forgive me for not having all the details. Maybe someone else with more info can elaborate. ABC News stated this morning the US government is offering $1,000,000 US to anyone that can provide a portable power supply that can sustain 20 watts of constant power for at least 4 days. The unit must weigh under 20 lbs.

This will be used as a personal power supply carried by individual troops in our military.

There is already a system available to the military http://www.globalsolar.com/ . The tactical/MILSPEC device can run/recharge tactical communications equipment to include laptops, cameras, GPS, and night vision devices. Battery recharge capabilities include, but isn't limited to the following: BB-390/U(Nickel Hydride) , BB-590/U(NiCad), and BB-2590/U(Lithium-Ion). http://www.globalsolar.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=58&Itemid=114 Is anybody interested in developing a small hydrogen fuel cell?

Good to hear from you, jowens. Is the story that you heard akin to (or the same as) this one?
