Joint Efficiency Relation with Radiography (NDT)

07/24/2015 9:40 AM

in my fabrication drawing i am specifying radiography as NIL. what should be my joint efficiency.

and if radiography as 10% or 100%, what should by my joint efficiency.

All joints should be 100% efficient.

Otherwise they may leak.

This might not be up to date, but if you do full radiography, you can claim 100% weld efficiency. For spot radiography (which may be the same as the 10% you mention), you can claim 85% weld efficiency. With no radiography, 70%.

Basically Joint Eff. Specifying depends on the following:

- specify the weld joint gategory from Para. UW-3

- The weld description from Para. UW-12 with Table UW-12.

GENERAL: for full radio gragh. 100%, for spot 85%. in case of lethal material service use full RG. AS PER (UW-2 SERVICE RESTRICTIONS).
