The only advice you need is from a qualified group of onsite engineers, this is not a job for unqualified individuals such as yourself or strangers on the web who cannot physically see the dangers in what you are trying to do.

I see in the stone of Zanzibar, your future: A post hole auger with an underground feeder cable wrapped around it and some sort of bright light, go into the light.

Shortly after this was taken, telephones and PCs began to emerge.

Stop work and obtain the services of a qualified electrical installer.

I have to agree with RAMconsult : it is not so simply.

Let's say it is an armored cable built according to IEC 60502-1.

If they are single-core cables the armor has to be AWA.

No armor losses is expected [armor grounded in one end only].

Let's say the cables are 2*3+1 single-core 0.6/1 kV copper conductor XLPE insulated.

Let's say, at first, the earth is 100 RHO[Co. at 20oC and the cable are in trefoil [R,S,T] formation 0.25 m clearance between groups.

According to IEC 60364-5-52 Table A.52-5 I=351 A

A correction for 1 K.m/W [100 RHO] 1.18 [Table A.52-16].

Another correction for 2 groups of 3 cables at 0.25 m clearance [Table A.52-18] 0.9.

Finally I=351*1.18*.9= 372.8 A.

In my opinion you have to use cable raised cover tray. For one system 607 A at 30oC[Tableau A.52-12 method F]. At 40oC correction factor [Table A.52-14 ] 0.91.

Table A.52-17 reduction factor for two systems on one tray 0.88

For armor presence another 0.9 and for raised cover also 0.9.

Finally I=607*0.91*0.88*0.9*0.9=393.8 A. So you may use tray instead of burying.

What do you need it is a crew of skill men-civil engineer, tray manufacturer, electrical engineer and cable installation crew. That's all.

Follow local electrical regulations and codes of practice (whatever they are). If you don't know what you are doing get a qualified person to do this for you.

Stringing 240mm2 armoured cable on poles is not something you should be doing yourself.

That's not a power pole, that's an electrified bird's nest!

And trust me, I know bird nests.

We have many sites that utilize overhead, pole-mounted, insulated cables for power and control.

The cable is specific to the application and requires; special mounting hardware, a non-stretch center support to prevent damage to the cable sheath and/or internal wires as well as XLP/PVC outer jacket/covering to minimize UV degradation.

Contact Anixter, General, or any other major cable supplier and present the details of your application then follow their recommendations for the type of cable, cable size, and mounting instructions.

if you said 7x1cx240 armoured xlpe or 2x3cx240+240 armoured xlpe it would have been better.

If the route of the overhead cabling solution presents no hazard eg trucks passing under, proximity to HV cabling and there is little chance of anyone interfering with them then the solution is sound.....unless you have already purchased the armoured cable you mentioned.

Overhead cabling is the cheaper option. (possibly) smaller conductors and no armour required.

Can't you dig carefully with tea spoons? Only 150m.

You are installing these cables, without a plan?

Or,are you in charge of installing these cables and you are trying to develop a plan?

Either way, the situation is VERY SCARY.

To put such an unqualified person in either position is probably illegal in most places, and if not illegal, totally irresponsible.

Consult the AHJ* about the local regulations and applicable codes of the job.

*AHJ= Authority Having Jurisdiction;Inspector,Plant Engineer or Manager,etc.

Good Luck.

And don't forget to dry behind your ears.

Why don't you consider Bus duct for the purpose.

It seems busduct suits better here with large current and not much distance (150metres) and there is difficulty finding space / installing underground cables.
