Chrome Faster Than IE or FF?

There's a price to pay for speed!! They want any and all your personal info. including all of your family's info. of at least 3 generations back if not more. And that's not including what they sell to the NSA.

What do you use?

Seems to me that IE does that too. The only thing that they really do AFAIK, is track where you go, and your favorite places to buy things on line show up as ads in the current site you're visiting.

I'm always getting embedded ads (as opposed to pop-ups) from Digi Key, Microchip and Analog Devices while here on CR4! That really doesn't bother me.

I don't know Mike, seems that everybody wants to be in everybody else's business now-days. I have enough drama in my life, 4 sisters, 2 daughters and 2 ex-wives with a sprinkling of a few others, I really don't need or want to know anyone else's business or to try and corner them with advertisements, but thats just me.

Last I checked my new car with all the chrome fizz on it is much faster than the Explorer I had before, not to talk about the other FF.

Chrome has always been faster. Last time i checked, FF was the slowest. Well if Google already knows everything about me, then what's to stop me from upgrading to Win 10?

Every time I have done a fresh install of Chrome it has been pretty fast but as time goes by, like all things, it slows down. I think because I always install adblock plus but believe me, it's worth it.

I prefer Firefox for my Linux installations. It's probably same same but Firefox and Linux go together for me from way back. I'm sure they all work fine across platforms now but sometimes you just have to stand on ceremony.

I use FF, because I don't like Google getting into all my stuff. I have a GMail account and I don't use it much either. I think all the Google stuff is great and it's free, but the cost is my loss of privacy and I don't like having that information out there.

So for me FF is the one I use. Yes, it will get really slow after being on a few days, so I just close it and reopen. It gets to be a memory hog at times - right now it's using 900M, but at times it's up to 2.5G and my system slows down.

I used to use Chrome but i started getting annoying adds on every page. FF has an add on called Lightbeam that can block hitchhiker sites. It shows all the sites that are accessing you now and in the past, option to 60 days by radio button.

I've never had pop-up adds with Chrome except when there was a virus or spyware installed. Then it was so bad that I couldn't do much of anything.

For some reason i don't have the problem with my laptop using Vista. The sites that cause the popups on Win8 often have 'googlead' or 'googleapis' as the site name. Right now there is a site called 'redneckplunger.com' accessing this computer/page. Among others. I did have my computer highjacked and used as a 'bot' twice in the recent past. AVG didn't stop it. I have now got Trend Micro as my protection. When my computer was infected i tried several programs to try to find unwanted #$%#ware and it was Trend Micro that found the most. The most annoying popup was a banner that flashed and jumped around telling me that i am the lucky winner of .... The corner of the banner said "ads by cloudstreet" but the address shown by Lightbeam wasn't cloudstreet. I am having trouble remembering it . The cloudstreet site seems to show them to be a responsible advertiser with opt out options. All seems good now.
