What is it?

08/06/2015 3:11 PM

I got this when I bought a lot of carpentry equipment.

It says it is a Hobby Carver, but I cannot find any info on Google about how it is used.

The yellow stencil on the arm above says Serial Number 1960

Close up of the decal above

The company listed does not appear on Google search

All of the equipment is Circa 1960's including some Foley Belsaw

equipment, planer, band saw, cabinet table saw,and some Craftsman equipment made

by Belsaw for Sears (Back when the Craftsman Name meant high quality.)

I'd say now it's a boat anchor.

This http://www.trademarks411.com/marks/72317874-hobbi-carve suggests the base of a router table.

Thanks!

Looks like you hit the nail on the head with that trademark link.

It lists the company that made it,now defunct.

I still don't know if what I have is complete,or just part of a larger machine assembly.

I have put feelers out to some vintage woodworking sites;maybe someone will

recognise it.

possibly the ironwork of an overhead pin router. used to copy patterns.

Does the label show a tool following a pattern, the bottom the pattern, the top line a partially completed copy, working left to right?
