HVDC Test Laboratory

10/01/2015 9:40 AM

Hi I want to learn what the top leftside device is? There are many balls and I wonder what they are.

http://www.technologyreview.com/sites/default/files/images/dc.circuit.slide_.1.jpg

Also there are rectangulars and rings on some tall devices . What are they ? I mean rectangulars/ rings and those devices..

I admit I dont know much of these equipments at all...

To direct the electrical energy of the lightning requires straight runs, as the energy has a tendency to not want to change direction.

Once this and the lockout tagout is established, you are now ready to connect the cables to the electrode implants.

After determining that all personal are at a safe distance, the knife switch can be thrown and the monster activated.

Its Alive!

The third frame reminded me of a story a paramedic told about arriving on the scene of a lightning strike at a basketball court in a city park. A few guys who were near the goal where knocked down, but incredibly, 50 yards away, outside a bar, were more "victims". An old lady came out of her house and pointing at the long distance victims, exclaimed "They is faken".

It all has to do with controlling/shaping the electrostatic field at the interface of the electrode surface with the surrounding air.

You're all wrong. It's a part-built full-size replica of the "Mousetrap" game. The large structure on the top left is the marble holder.

It is called a top load and it is one "plate" of a capacitor on the top of a Tesla Coil. It is the plate that the charge builds up on.

Looks like a particularly elaborate electrical lab with enough Nicola Tesla toys to keep me happy for quite a while. :-)

The tower on the left with the "balls" on it could be a Tesla electricity projector.
