what are the Advantages and Disadvantages of using Concentric and Eccentric Reducer in a piping?

Pipe size, velocity and pressure variation- some advantages. Loss of head. I mean net head loss, pressure loss, obviously.

It depends on the application.

On a horizontal run, an eccentric reducer with the flat on the bottom will aid draining if that is the main criterea, if it is positioned on the top then it will help prevent trapped vapour in the pipe.

Eccentric reducers are often used on pumps to aid fluid feed to the impeller and the position of the flat is largely dependent on the density of what is being pumped. Concentric reducers in the suction line can create an air trap, cavitation and pump shock as the air is drawn in.

In a vertical line it's not so important but an eccentric does allow you to set the pipe against the structure more readily than does the concentric

Concentric reducer positioned with the "bulb" down would not trap air, I believe.

Eccentric with the flat side up on the suction side of a pump will not accumulate air/vapors which could get into the pump and cause cavitation, a bad thing. A concentric or an eccentric with the flat side down will allow accumulation of air/vapors. Both types also act as pipe diameter reducers/increasers.

If the materials being pumped are a mild slurry or particles suspended in a liquid, an eccentric on the discharge helps keep the particles suspended and not accumulate on the bottom of a pipe.

On the suction side the use of an eccentric with the flat side down permits the pump to run with a lower liquid level since the pump inlet is at the lowest part of the pipe.

Eccentrics are more often used on the suction side of pumps to change pipe size and eliminate problems and the concentrics on the discharge side of pumps to increase pipe size.

I can clearly see now, thank you for your note, that my comment was not as descriptive as I wanted it to be.

What I wanted it to show was that either a concentric reducer, the one shaped somewhat like an ice cream cone, or an eccentric reducer placed with the flat side on the bottom, the one shaped somewhat like the letter "P" lying down on it's back, will allow the accumulation of air/vapors in the raised portion of the reducer on the suction end of a pump. Hopefully this will clarifyThese illustrate how air/vapors can accumulate in the upper portions of a concentric reducer or an eccentric reducer with the flat side down.

why do we need to increase discharge pipe?????
