Happy Thanksgiving!

11/26/2015 8:07 AM

For all CR4 users who celebrate U.S. Thanksgiving: have a delicious holiday and keep safe. You might want to rethink deep-frying the turkey. If you went up in smoke along with the bird, we 'd miss the helpful posts, the funny posts, and even some of the off-topic posts.

This would really put a damper on your day.

Be careful.

Well - Thank you.

However, holiday or not, business must go on for some of us. I am working 11 hours today and probably as much tomorrow, to get a project out the door in time. I am filling in for hourly workers, who all refused to work today. (hey - they are my electrical design drawings, so who better to wire to them) Best part, as you may have already deduced - I am salaried and get no over time pay. Hurray for business practices in America.

I am not alone - I have some help from Europe here with me, from a joint venture company. Since they have no holiday now they are willing to work the day. My Wife and I will be treating them to a full Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings after we're done for the day.

Guess she is working today too. Turkeys don't cook themselves.

Good you you, and your wife.

Since this is a global forum, many are working today.

Many are away from home for a thousand reasons.

Our service men and women, first responders, health care providers and many more deserve our thanks for being there today to keep all of us safe and well.

And a Happy Thanksgiving to you too.

So, out there in the southwestern desert, where the temperature always seem to be above 100°F on the weather maps, do you just set the bird out on the sidewalk for 4 hours?

It is getting late in the work day - I seem to be drifting to the computer more often than earlier in the day.

Since you asked............

We had a new stove/oven installed yesterday.

Top-O-the-line model.

All is right with the world.

Wife turns oven on this morning to preheat and as it gets up to temp, there's this strange smell filling the kitchen. Plastic!

Oops. Burnt plastic on the racks and the bottom of the new oven. Too hot to clean.

"Not to worry, I say. We'll just go out to eat". Boy, am I dumb.

Any place that was open had a line around the block.

So, we went to the grocery store and bought turkey breast, mashed potatoes and gravy and veggies and came home and had that.

It tasted just fine and that stove sure is pretty.

All is still right with the world.

Sorry about your oven. Someone stored a Tupperware container of cookies in our oven once, and I turned it on without looking, so I know what you experienced.

Are you sure your wife didn't hide your hideous Plastic Palm Tree in the oven and forgot to take out when your back was turned??

A photo of the gook. The nice installer came back last night and tried to clean it off. No luck. He came back AGAIN this morning and tried some other chemicals. So, the wife just went to talk to the lady she bought the stove from, and after a phone call to the factory, Or wherever, we're getting a new stove.
I think I could have gotten it off with some MEK, but she wanted a new stove.

That really sucks! At least she gets a new stove, but still a hella of price to pay, missing out on a home cooked turkey. Here's hoping the rest of your Holidays go better
