The same way you calculate the efficiency of anything.

Efficiency%=100%*(output anything / input anything)

The tricky part is one must sum all of the inputs for a denominator value and one must put them all in the same units as the input.

Any reasonably efficient person would search the internet.

Efficiency - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It's all in here. It will take a little effort on your part to read what it says.

The thermal efficiency of Internet searchers is Carnot-limited at 37dC ~~ 310K. Not very high.

Efficiency varies with load.

What you need to do is get the fuel rate from say 10~98% [Load actual]. Once you have the fuel rate, get the heat value of the type of fuel used. Once you got it, the product of the 2 is the capital power you invested to convert the potential energy of fuel to electricity(also . Start from there.

The Total Eff. will be just ηtot = [Output Electrical Power/Fuel Power]

The Electrical eff. = [Output Electrical Power/Brake Horse Power] -->this is usually given as rating of the equipment per manufacturers performance test, see manuals and test certificates or send SN, Model no. of Turbine to provider, I am sure they have the info.

The Thermal Eff. = [Brake horsepower/Fuel Power] or = [(Electrical Power Output/ηgenerator)/Fuel Power]

You've been here long enough to know better. All your doing is feeding these bottom feeders with info. they should already know and endangering others who depend on anonymous forums.

That's rather harsh I think...what difference does it matter where one finds the information one seeks....seek and ye shall find....the amount of time one must seek will vary, but the act of seeking never stops in the wise man...A piece of ripe fruit may be found on low hanging branches one day and higher branches the next, but the act of seeking remains the same....Would you have Mother Nature put all the fruit on high branches?

"Would you have Mother Nature put all the fruit on high branches?"

Sometimes, absolutely.

Answers to some questions posed here can empower inept people to perform dangerous activities.

Didn't mean for it to sound as harsh as it came out. We are not furthering students education by suppling a one stop answer shop. I know when I was in school I didn't have the IoT and because of that I had to spend hours at libraries doing my own research. I got to the point that I knew the library catalogs better than the librarian.

IoT is a great tool if used properly. The members here on CR4 are extremely knowledgeable and only got that way by doing their own research.

We all can "google" key words and come up 1.5 million results in .064 seconds for questions these students ask, but does that really help them learn?

If we assume the OP is a student looking for an answer to his homework question, would you consider him to be resourceful by coming to this site to find the answer?

You went to school when you couldn't ask for answers on an internet forum - same as me. Years ago, it would be bordering on cheating if someone did your homework for you - though in reality, my professors rarely counted our homework toward our grade in the class - that was done in high school and Jr. College. Even if it does count toward his grade, is it "wrong" for the OP to try to find an answer on this site - he is solving the problem, correct?

I may not agree with students coming here to find homework answers, however in real life, we go to others for help when we can't solve the problem.

Yes but, if one bothers to read the FAQ's/rules:

"Look for answers before you post. Search CR4 or use a search engine to see if you can find the answer to your question.

Do your own homework. CR4 is not a homework cheat site; however, if you have questions about understanding concepts or how a portion of a problem is derived, these types of questions will be accepted."

Generally, the type of questions asked by Enamul, and many others who find us with an internet search, are answered by links easily obtained by the simplest of internet searches.

Maybe it's just because I'm old and cranky, but it seems to me that too many young people today are too damn lazy to do their own work, or homework.

It is not a difficult task to find an answer to just about any question one can dream up by using a search engine.

I find many of them to be lazy too! One of my pet peeves is when I receive an email with spelling, punctuation and grammatical errors. My friends tell me that I'm being too critical and that I should focus on the message. Maybe so, but if the goal is communication, then why not follow the rules of communication?

I sometimes wonder if this "new" generation has it right - the rules aren't that important and as long as the message is received correctly, who cares?

Then again, I'm the guy who makes sure all the screwheads on the outlet plates and switch plates all line up (I prefer them to be horizontal). And no, I don't actually measure them, I just eyeball where I think horizontal is. Though I do use a level on the outlet plates and switch plates.

I've been a hiring manager for over 30 years at 4 different companies.

Mostly engineers and technical people.

Now, working at a non-profit, I still look for grammar and spelling even from the non-technical people I hire.

I volunteer for a few non-profits and the people I work with are also volunteers - non-technical. They're typically better educated and more conscientious than the college students I interview to be my assistant.

Thats exactly my point. Part of the learning process is doing your own through research about the question(s). at hand. and in the process of doing your own research, you could very well learn a few things more than just the original question.
