I believe that is a tap in point, a place where you can connect a pressure device or monitor...

The drawing creator (draftsman) is allowed to use proprietary abbreviations.

Because of the symbol location you describe I am pretty sure TAPPO is an abbreviation for "Tapped Port".

This usually signifies a port that will accept a standard or metric threaded fitting from/for a test gauge or local indicating gauge or control device.

The port may have a back-seated valve to ensure positive shutoff and/or rerouting of the flow at that point.

The only way to be certain is to review the legend sheet or contact the company that provided the drawing.

It's Italian for cap, cork, plug, etc.

So why is it the Italians have become the industrial machine center of the universe? Every new machine the company I work for has bought in the last 8 years has come from Italy, and apparently the OP has a machine from there as well.
