Material Equivalent

01/14/2016 5:50 AM

Dear All

Does anyone knows what is the ASME Standar Material equivalent to these 2 Chinese standard material 15CrMoG & 12CrMoVG in terms of the allowable stress? Because i need to find the Minimum Wall thickness for this material.

Any reference would be greatly appriciated.

Best Regards,

Why not use the Chinese Standard instead?

Ask the Chinese standard or best and accurate the manufacturer.

If I am not mistaken materials are alloy of steel, probably a stainless steel.

Site's like alibaba would perhaps give some info.

Surprizing I got the chemical composition and the mechanical properties from the first trial!

Google gave the info you want, maybe you learn how to make a research.

As for the allowable values you can make a comparison with similar qualities.

Look at european standards the form is similar.

What Chemical Composition matters when defining an equivalent material? is it the percentage of C, Mn, Cr, Mo, or all of them?.. you rarely have an exact equivalent....

Class is over for today.

Hint for study tonight: are you interested in chemical composition or allowable stress?

I Thought that if i wanted to find an representative allowable stress, i needed to find a similar material composition, and then use the allowable stress table of that material in ASME II sec D? Guess i was wrong..
