Carlo Rovelli and Time Travel

04/06/2016 8:58 AM

Today's edition of Mashable has an article describing the 9 Physics Concepts Every Time Traveler Should Know. Mashable editors asked theoretical physicist Carlo Rovelli to explain these concepts for the non-theoretical-physicists amongst their readers. Rovelli recently published a slim volume called Seven Brief Lessons in Physics, which is currently #2 on the NY Times non-fiction best-sellers list.

Have any of you out in CR4 Land read Seven Brief Lessons? If so, would you share your opinions? I haven't read it but it's on my list; I usually enjoy reading Quantum Physics for Bozos Interested Laypeople. Even though sometimes the concepts make my head explode.

Haven't read his book yet, but it's now on my list.

One of the most fun and fascinating books I've ever read about Astronomy - or any kind of science - is Chet Raymo's 'Soul of the Night'. Soul-of-the-Night-An-Astronomical-Pilgrimage/

Raymo is an emeritus professor at Stonehill College in Massachusettes, and for many years wrote a weekly science column for the Boston Globe.

Thanks for suggesting Raymo's book; it's on my list now. I'm gathering up vacation reading material, and I think his book will be a great addition.

I always thought The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy explained things nicely.

Hi!

I have read none - however there´s some stuff i mistily recall from past time travel - /!\ it might be misleading or incorrect but the time is like frequency coded for any particular time-range . . . e.g. if you pass from your time into any other time the system recognizes you there as extra-systemal - the time travel is better done in spirit level by borning into time of interest or alternates - would avoid that "violation" - otherwise it´s like the fast moving railway attraction you can´t be clamped in to - and have take a lot of effort to (and verify of)be(ing) there (continuously) -- being an error to local chk-sum you´re fast computed as such and have a special handling by sys for such
