Earth Tag Wiring

04/10/2016 5:57 AM

What size of wire to be connected with Earth tag? Is it depends on the connected load of the panel/DB?

Requesting elaborative explanation.

Thanking you in advance!

The wire size for all cabling should be what is on the engineering document. The minimum wire size is set by your local building standards code. There is no engineering theories that established these standards. They were generated from forensic analysis of many disasters at many different sites.

Get a code book and read it.

Better yet, find a new line of work!

Try reading NEC standards. Or, perhaps, reading manuals. Engineers who designed that thing are idiots if they did not incorporate proper or recommended Earthing. Must be made in China or something? Nope?

May be that equipment is good only for installation, not for operational purposes?

BS7671 for once covers this quite well or you can use the adiabatic equation in the BYB if you know the MPFC.

I'm assuming as you refer to earth and not ground you aren't using the NEC codes.

BYB = Big Yellow Book, the 3rd amendment of BS7671. £85 from http://electrical.theiet.org/books/

A1) See A2

A2) Elaborative explanation and sizing protocols may be found within the applicable national electrical code. In the UK, it is British Standard 7671.

Just use a cable tie with the tag, as we all do, the cable tie fits many sizes of earth conductors, bare and insulated types.

Try offering a better explanation of your problem than the standard 3rd world requirement of just, "Give me"!

What have your colleagues come up with? What has your PM or designer or consultant come up with as answers?
