Mathematical Modeling for Steer-by-Wire System

08/02/2007 1:57 AM

Can any of you, who are working on modeling and simulation of a steer by wire system can inform me about the mathematical modelling of this or any relevant work on this topic... I'll be looking forward greatly in this regard..thnx

The Sopwith Camel, the Sopwith Pup, the Spad, the Tiger Moth and the Fokker Triplane all have fly-by-wire links between the joystick, the rudder pedal and their control surfaces. The RAF has more modern airplanes these days. If only the British aviators knew how to avoid landing behind the lines it would make my task much simpler.

YES YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT... BUT THE MAIN THING IS THAT I AM TRYING TO IMPLEMENT THIS THING IN VEHICLES, USING THE SAME TECHNIQUE AS OF THE FLY BY WIRE, BUT THE THINGS WILL BE A BIT DIFFERENT FROM THIS... SO KINDLY GUIDE ME AND PROVIDE ME WITH UR ASSISTANCE IN THIS REGARD, I LL BE LOOKING FORWARD.... MY ADDRESS IS ccreen@gmail.com

Afraid I don't. Is it significantly different from modelling any kind of control system? I assume it involves feedback (at least I hope so).

Knowing the reliability of existing vehicle electronics I'm not sure I'd want it. Who hasn't had a failure of an airflow meter, crank sensor, water temp sender or simply an errant vehicle alarm? I can only see it as a part of an eventual self-driving vehicle. It won't make a significant contribution to saving weight, it won't enhance driving pleasure, it won't save cost. Safety? If there's a weak link with the present system it's the brain (usually singular) in the passenger compartment.

the model is extremely simple. It is a ratio of the signal output of the controller to the physical output of the actuator. Tuning is accomplished by modifying the signal output to correspond to the actuator output, under load.

what else were you thinking of? This is too simple of a question.

hello.... basically i am mechatronics engineering student, and this mathematical modelling and simulation is concerned with our final year project.... so basically, we are using the idea of fly by wire system used in aircrafts, and now we are going to implement it in vehicles ... we are working on a dynamic model ... so kindly, if in this regard if you get any information plz, contact me or mail me at ccreen@gmail.com or mek_ck1@yahoo.com ... i ll be greatly looking forward for ur assistance....

A simple cheap pull me/pull me system with little damping, probably not very reliable if subject to shock loadings. Used on several early cars like GN and proposed by Captain Marendaz for his 1970s minitractor. Not heard of since.

As already highly developed for horse guidance?

Didn't know Capt. Marendaz was around in the '70s. much less active in minitractors. My knowledge limited to the Unihorse.
