Centrifugal Air Blower

04/20/2016 8:13 PM

I have a 20000cfm air blower. Air quantity is varied changing the blower speed. blower suction is connected to a Dehumidification unit duct.

Recently we have changed to higher capacity dehumidification unit. now the air outlet of the centrifugal blower is not increasing to earlier levels.

Need your thoughts on solving this issue

Does the newer dehumidification unit involve a greater pressure drop than before, thereby decreasing air flow to the blower?

My thought is that the new unit restricts the air flow into the blower.

Did the salesman of the new unit have an opinion when you called him?

You DID call him didn't you?

This is not a complicated problem.

But it is impossible to solve with no useful information.

Call the supplier/salesman/installer...........................................

Check the CFM rating on the dehumidifier for a comparison with the old one...You might have installed an under rated unit....check to make sure dampers are fully open....check for obstruction at intake...

Dear All,

Thanks for your answers. However the airflow at the inlet of blower is higher compared to old Dehumidifier. We measured it. Inlet is 18000cfm and iam getting blower output has only 8000cfm. Then I removed the dehumidifier duct inlet to the blower and allowed atmospheric air.,now the blower output increases

So let me get this straight, you have 18,000 cfm going into a duct, and only 8,000 cfm coming out....Is that correct? ...Does that sound possible to you?

Maybe he needs to clean some dead birds out of it.

More likely several small tornadoes of turbulence...

Wouldn't want to be around when the (imaginary) receiver (taking 10,000 cfm) blows .

He didn't say the flows are in scfm, though I'd be surprised if the pressure rise is enough to account for it.

"Inlet is 18000cfm and iam getting blower output has only 8000cfm".

the dehumidifier is connected to the suction of the blower; inlet is 18000cfm and out put is 8000cfm. something is wrong in your statement.

Dear All,

We could identify the problem as pressure drop inn new equipment and issues is resolved now. Thank u all for your valuable inputs
