This patenting because someday it might be a product is a creedy business practice.

This patent and the Google 'eyes' patent look like blue sky ideas that might work someday. Gone are the days when you have to demonstrate a prototype to get a patent. Now you can patent anything that might be possible in the future.

The bright flash emitted from the eye or the wearer will be a dead giveaway! Not only that, but since the wearer is near this flash, he or she will be blinded (indefinitely) in one or both eyes, strike them quick while they are incapacitated!

I think the strobe will still be a real hurdle for the engineers to overcome, since capacitors will still be needed, this could portend many a droopy bottom eyelid in attempts to suppose the weighty contact lens. Not to mention the wide zoom telephoto lens they will need for sporting events.

If the new pc/sexual harassment thing hasn't stopped guys from winking at girls, this will end it for sure. Lawsuits for invasion of privacy now if you wink at the opposite sex. Will they be able to take your eye for legal evidence?

No. They will just read your mind. I.E. - pull the flash drive sticking out the back of your neck (or other suitable placement, depending on operator preference).

I think ophthalmologists will have a field day doing surgery on guys who dried out their eyeballs attempting not to blink, wink, but staring is just as liable to be a problem.

The larger question: how does the opposite sex know you are winking at them? (and them only). If the opposite sex is dressed in translucent panties, high heels, and a tight blouse, and bent over a sports car, you can trust me - I won't be blinking, I will be checking out the paint job on that Ferrari. Any guy that does not know what that it, no explanation will help.

Pretty much. Before long, complete and total isolation will be necessary to prevent anyone from offending anyone else. Even that is not enough some times.

Fortunately, I don't have that problem - I am not a social creature. Even at work, I tend to stay to myself and only interact when absolutely necessary. (PSU and their psychological testing told me I could never be an engineer because of those tendencies - I've proved them wrong) I am near to isolation already. I interact more with humans on this site than I do the rest of the time. Here some offending is expected and endured.
