Seems to appear on some systems, but not all. Hasn't appeared on either of my work laptops (one old XP pro and one new-ish Win7 pro) but has on both my home netbook (8.1 starter) and ancient desktop (XP home). Very odd. Maybe the "pro" keeps it at bay.

Yes, it's pretty irritating.

Maybe an "I have seen it so don't pop up again" button would be nice.

Open the three policy statements, (at least pretend to) read them, and check OK wherever asked. Then it goes away, apparently permanently.

Hmm; worked for me; maybe mileage depends on browser or something.

Hold on... two days ago, right after I read that this problem was "fixed", I tried it... to no avail. But I tried it again moments ago, and this time... at least for now... the whack-a-mole notice has stayed in its hole. Hurray!

My peeve is the Newsletter and related sign up popups that come and go.

I may not see them for three days then every single time I change pages here they pop up every time for a week.

What's the deal with that?

This is a clever ploy be IEEE to see who, and how many people, actually use this forum.

They plan to turn it into a subscription service just like Microsoft is going to do with W10, and charge the heavy users a pro rated fee.

The premium service will allow those subscribers who use it to block all trolls and obnoxious members, and all those whose names contain 4 P's,3 E's, 2 R's, an I and a T.
