I forget whether the Flying Tigers were P38s versus P39s, or some other number, which might also have been assigned to a folding can opener for K-rations (or some other letter(s) of rations culminating in MREs). Hell, Spaghetti-Os would be just as good.

The can opener was P-38. I carried one for years when I roamed the AZ deserts.

I still have one, which I use on hikes. One of the most ingeniously simple inventions ever.

"they might be old but have no equal"

Yup, I'm not sure we COULD design a better flying tank murderer. ("Tank Killer" Makes it sound like the tank has a slim chance of winning the fight. When the A-10's swoop in, it's not a battle, it's a public execution. Makes me glad these ugly beauties are on our side.)
