Thoughts On CR4 Mobile Website

06/08/2016 6:20 PM

I have to admit I'm a fan. Really can read CR4 on the phone now. Long overdue.

What?

I've been doing this for years, with a browser.

In a perhaps related development, functionality was today restored to the post composing window.

Kudos to the CR4 team for patching that back up.

I like it!

Right now I'm logged in on both my desktop and phone.
Let's see what happens when I post with phone.

[edit] I posted with mobile device, and I am editing with desktop. Cool... I can talk to myself even here at CR4! The emoticons now work from the desktop as well.

[edit again] And again, from mobile device.

Oh, that.

OK I'll figure it out eventuality.

Also have to disable autocorrect.

I do see the improvements and am sure it will be nice after one of the boys shows me how to use it.

Thanks for that.

My confusion arose from the fact that the first time I went to CR4 on my phone after this thread, the "old" screen came up.

I was afraid that I was the only user who wasn't smart enough to get the new screen on my phone.

It's all better now and my faith that I'm not totally computer illiterate has been somewhat restored.

I miss spell chucker.

Thanks everyone! It's been a long few months of development and testing.

I am also enjoying using CR4 easily from my phone without having to zoom in on each page. And the formatting toolbar now works on iPhone.

OK. I asked this elsewhere, AFTER googling and looking in the Android (Google) PlayStore. Where do I get the phone app? I can't find it, and I'd like to try it. Anyone? Help?

It's not an app. They have just changed how it looks when viewed by your phone's browser. It's much easier to use now.

I replied to you on the other thread. This release is not an app. If you visit http://cr4.globalspec.com from a browser on your smartphone, you will see a redesigned version of CR4 that fits the screen much better than the regular desktop version.

Some things have been rearranged; for example, most of the stuff currently on the right side of your desktop view is in a popup at the bottom of the CR4 homepage on your phone.

Give it a try and let us know if you need any help.

Thank you, to both you and Bayes. I was precipitate in my request, not checking for answers before repeating it. I will check it out again. It is probably a good thing NOT to need yet one more app taking up my phone's memory (and killing the battery!).

You can save the CR4 page as a shortcut that looks like an app button on your phone's screen.

Open CR4 in your phone's browser. Then tap menu (on Android) or share (on iPhone) and tap Add to Home Screen.

Have fun!
