Hi,

Regarding single bus and double bus - can we say:

1. upto a certain short circuit rating, we choose a single bus and above that we choose a double bus ie I think upto 40 kA - we choose single bus and above that we choose a double bus? (reliability concerns etc are

I think up to about 40, a single bus is appropriate.

Above that, up to 60 or 70, a double bus is probably advisable.

More than that, you'll probably need one of these:

Of course, that's just the opinion of a dumb old mechanical engineer. (But at least I'm not anonymous on an anonymous board.)

"Switching scheme of substation determines the electrical and physical arrangement of the switching equipment. Different switching schemes can be selected as emphasis is shifted between the factors of security, economy, extendibility, maintainability, operational flexibility, protection arrangement, short circuit limitations, land area, safety and simplicity dictated by function and importance of the substation.

Security of supply or substation service continuity is the main factor in selecting the switching scheme."...

One of the major problems with a bus application is the uncertainty, you will line up for ages..

and then all at once, several will arrive at the same time!

There has to be a better upgrade for this application!
